The Mistake of Magic, (Power of Five Book Two)
Alex Lidell
Goodreads, Amazon
It's a...Reverse Harem
Quint magic has never chosen a human before, and the Elders Council is convinced Lera is a mistake. When the quint refuses to be cleaved apart, the enraged elders give them a choice: exile from Lunos or demotion to the lowest of trainees. Subject again to the humiliations and deadly trials they endured centuries ago, the males now face a new challenge—training Lera to survive. River, Shade, Coal, and Tye will do whatever it takes to keep Lera safe. But Lera will do whatever she must to keep them together—even if it means putting herself in mortal danger.

Overview:
Lera, River, Shade, Coal and Tye finally make their way to the Council at the Citadel and surprise s$%* gets real super quick. They are forced to prove their worth as a Quint because they now have a "mortal" attached, it makes them vulnerable to all sorts of attacks.

'Mistake of Magic', is an easy sell there is nothing here lacking. The Quint has decided they aren't separating and they just need the rest of the world to get on board. My only real surprise was that there is still a lot of layers of relationship building left that we have to get through. I kind of thought after the last book everything would fall in place and it isn't, but I think that makes it a better series. When I read the last book this was going to be a classic RH, where everything in the relationship falls into place right away and all the books will be a battle to keep the group solid and enemies kept away. The surprise here is the character that needs the most relationship building isn't one you would expect.
*I like that GIF way too much, I use it whenever I can 😂*

We know from 'Magic of Five', there is probably no mistake in this Quint. That is explored a lot in this addition. The males of the Quint don't believe it is a mistake but Lera my brave girl needs to start embracing her own strength. She proves that she is no submissive lamb in this book again that she will fight, bleed and die for the others. By the end of this book her grit and reason for her place in the Quint is out in the open but I'm not sure it is enough for one cranky Counsel member to decide to back down?
