It's a...Reverse Harem
From Book 1: The legacy of Hillcrest University starts out just like any other. A girl, some boys, a bit of mystery…a noose. Actually, it all begins with the noose. A noose, a note, and a corpse. And a pretty one at that…
I thought coming to HU would help me move on from my past, help me get a good start on my future. A school for rich boys? Please. I’ve dealt with worse than them before. If they want to use me for whatever games they’re playing, they’ll have to try a lot harder than they’re used to. They think I’ll willingly walk into their feud, choose sides.
Declan is the tortured soul, the cute, depressed roommate who I’m supposed to watch over. Sawyer is the king of the school; everyone follows his command—and his money. Travis is…my kind of trouble: sexy, tattooed, a bit mysterious. Sawyer blames Declan for his sister’s death, but me? I know sometimes the ones pointing their fingers are the worst of all.
Did someone kill his sister? I know better than to assume their innocence. In a place like Hillcrest, you can’t trust anyone. Declan, Sawyer, and Travis? They all wear masks. The better question is: if someone killed her, are they going to come after me next?
These rich, entitled brats have no idea who they’re messing with.
**Loser is a darker romance, meaning there are topics that might offend you. Self-harm, suicide, stalking, and more to come in future books. Be warned.**

Ok, where are all my peeps at who like the dark and dirty? This little series is a well kept secret. I saw it pop up in a post one day, asked the author if it was RH, and downloaded the first book. It's been sitting on my kindle forever waiting on me to catch up enough to read it. FINALLY I got the chance to start book one. I got sucked in so hard. I read all three books that were out and freaked when I realized that it wasn't a complete series and the next book wasn't out yet. I kinda messaged Candace and pleaded for book four. Which I very rarely do. I think I’ve done it one time before to an author. I HAD to know what was going on. So since I got so hooked into this series I wanted to do a review for all four books that are currently out (book four releases 12/1). So if you haven't read any of the books yet, you may want to just stop at the first review. There is no way to do a 4 book review without spoilers along the way in the later books.
Just overall thoughts on the series real quick. It is definitely dark. I'm talking, murder, suicide, kidnapping, stalking, attempted rape. It gets darker as the books go along. So far there are four books in the series and the author has stated she thinks there will be 6. They are faster reads, I read them all in a two day span, and I'll tell you, they suck you in hard. The characters aren't always nice and likeable. Sometimes you want to strangle them and sometimes you want to love them. There are twists and turns galore in this and you are left wondering what the hell is going on A LOT. If you like the darker side of things, you definitely want to give this series a go.
*I thought while reading that there might be some crossover characters from other series. I wasn't sure since I haven't read any of her other books. So I looked at some reviews and it looks like I was right. But this in no way means that you have to read the other series to read this one. Just that if you have read her other series, you might be happy to see some of your characters again*
Loser
This was a great intro into this new series. Ash has gotten an amazing opportunity. She is the first girl to be accepted into the highly ranked Hillcrest Univeristy. It's been an all boys school forever but they are doing a trial run to become co-ed and somehow, Ash got picked. We quickly meet Declan, her roommate. He is depressed and withdrawn and she quickly learns why. Then we meet Travis. He's dark, tattooed and psychotic. Then there is Sawyer. He lost his sister the previous year and he has been in a downward spiral ever since. Each guy wants something different from Ash and she isn't willing to play any of their games. However, she is intrigued and decides to get to the bottom of what is going on. The boys, however, don't care that she doesn't want to play their games. They are going to get what they want from her and don't care what they have to do to get it. So we get to see a pretty dark side to the guys right away and the lengths they will go to. Then there is that major cliffhanger of an ending. Thank goodness the second book was already out or I might have cried.
Now I will say this is listed as a bully romance, and while there is some bullying going on in the book, it's not really directed at Ash. Yes she gets thrown into the middle of everything and the guys aren't always nice to her but I don't think it's really a bully environment in the sense we have come to expect from bully romance.
Freak
So the first book left us in a huge cliffhanger and wondering what happened to Declan. Is he ok? We quickly get the answer to that. We also meet the brother, Will, that we didn't know existed. He's just another in the list of men that Ash knows she shouldn't have feelings for but can't help herself. We learn a little more about Ash and her past in this book. We knew she had been through something intense. We knew it was dark and bad. I don't think I could have imagined what comes to light though. Something that puts them all in danger.
Ash and Declan become closer in this book. Travis and Sawyer's relationship takes a few hits. Sawyer shows his hand at being just as messed up as Travis in ways. And that he's a spoiled brat who doesn't like to not get his way. We still don't know the answers to what happened with Sawyer's sister. We may even have more questions now than we did before. Still left in the dark about Travis's family. So while we did get some answers, we also got some more questions.
We thought book one left us with a cliffhanger from hell but this book, this book made that cliffy look like an ant hill. This series is level 100 on the intensity and "what the hell is going on" scale.
Skank
This series just gets darker and darker as we go through it. From all we have read so far, you really wouldn't think it could get any darker but holy hell did it. We take a step into Ash's past. Not only the who but the why and how. The end of her toxic relationship that has caused them all to be in the trouble they are now. Still, Ash is holding out on the guys though, which is a bit irritating. She realizes quickly though that it's time to put her childish games and back and forth with the guys to bed. They are all in danger and there is no time for that. Unfortunately, some of their past "games" are coming to bite her in the ass. It seems that Ash is going to have to pay for some of Sawyer's mistakes. Speaking of Sawyer, he is really in a downward spiral in this book. So much so that he makes a mistake I don't know if we can come back from. He alone has caused so much damage to Ash, it's truly heartbreaking.
Again, we get some more answers, are left with more questions. Especially after that last chapter with Will. I mean what the hell man!?!? What's that all about. And Ash, I know she was in pain but to do that...what's next? This is the reason I couldn't wait to get book four and had to message the author.
Pycho
At the end of book three, Ash was back in the hands of her psycho ex. She quickly realizes what a mistake she made and does what she has to do to get out of that situation. Once she does, she knows it's time to come clean to the guys. They all have to work together to save themselves. Lucky for them, Travis is psychotic as well and comes from a very "special" family. While trying to figure out how to deal with Ray, they also have to figure out how to deal with their relationships. These guys have been at odds for a while now and it's hard to come back from that. They all show incredible growth in this book though. Declan starts standing up for himself and quits being the pushover. Travis learns to start putting other people first. Or even just considering their feelings since he never really has. Will was never really a weak character or too badly broken. He's just learning that he can be happy too. Sawyer is the only one who is really losing his shit. At the worst possible time too. Just when we thought we were getting things together and figuring things out, all hell breaks loose. Ray is tired of waiting and when opportunity presents itself, he jumps on it. Ash finds herself in an impossible situation. She gets a temporary reprieve but what in the world is going to happen next? This ending wasn't as big of a cliffhanger as the others. Thank goodness since it's technically not even out yet. I am left wanting to know so many things. What is going to happen next with Ash and Ray? The bomb dropped about Sabrina's death. How involved is Travis's family going to have to get? Who is Ray going to target next? Will Sawyer figure his shit out and can we even come back from the things he has done?
