It's a...Reverse Harem
My blood is their salvation... and my ruin.
For years, the monsters who killed my family have held me in a cage. Brutalized and half-starved. Only kept alive so they can steal my blood.
Until one evening when four eerily gorgeous men break me out of my prison.
They give me a soft bed and delicious food. They say they'll protect me—but their generosity may come at a price.
My rescuers are monsters like my captors: fae who shift into wolves. A curse gripping the faerie realm turns them wild under the full moon. Only my blood can cure their rage.
These fearsome men need me, and not just to lift the curse. A tragedy left them outcasts, and offering me to their rulers could win them back the home and the power they lost.
No matter how kindly they treat me, no matter how their smoldering eyes and strong hands stir unfamiliar desires in both my body and my heart, their castle is just another prison. As long as I'm a prize more than a person, my life will never be my own.
I've survived this long without giving up. I won't roll over now. But how can one damaged human girl hold her own against the savage fae?
*Captive of Wolves is the first in a new paranormal romance saga featuring possessive wolf shifters, fraught fae politics, and a wounded heroine coming into her own. Grab it now and get swept away in the fantasy!*
Note: The story contains scenes of physical abuse and emotional trauma but no sexual violence. All intimate moments are consensual.
I was immediately drawn in by this book from the cover and the first chapter.
This isn't like most fae, or even werewolves books (that will make more sense when you read it).
Talia is human.
Yet there is something special about her.
Several years ago she was stolen away from the human world by the fae because of the power in her blood.
She's been held captive ever since.
Though she is special to them, they don't treat her as such.
No clothes, barely any food and water, and abuse at the hands of her captors.
She hasn't been broken yet, as much as they've tried, and she knows she must get away.
Those plans are thwarted though when others find her hidden away within her prison and she is kidnapped once more.
These guys are slightly nicer, but how real can their kindness be when they need her for the same reason?
I loved how this book was so different from some of the other fae books I've read.
While the fae (the second set of kidnappers) are nice to her, it isn't because of some magical bond or anything like that.
It's because of their character. Their compassion even in the face of such daunting times.
We have Sylas, Whitt, and August. There is a fourth person, but he isn't there for long. Don't want to spoil the reasoning, but you will see when you read.
Sylas is the leader.
August is the one Talia finds comfort in first.
And Whitt is the odd one out. He isn't mean but also doesn't go out of his way to spend time with Talia.
These guys are so different from one another. In personality, demeanor, and how they treat others.
There are bits and pieces thrown at you to help you understand why they are the way they are, but you never get the full story. There are still things missing that helps you solve their mysteries.
Can't wait to see how things change between them and Talia in the next book.
Talia is a strong-willed woman.
She has spent years in captivity, but she hasn't let it get her down.
There are times when she appears meek, but it is a survival mechanism.
She knows when to be deviant and when to stand down.
Even going as far as strengthening herself physically as much as she can while being caged.
Not many women would come out as positive as she has in this book after what she has endured.
Speaks a lot of her character.
I'm curious to see how she will evolve in the next book.
This story is told mostly from the view of Talia, but we do have POV's from the guys on occasion.
You can even get an additional POV from Whitt at the end of the story by providing your email address.
It's a chapter we originally had from Talia's POV being seen from Whitt instead.
Shows a lot about his character that we haven't seen prior.
This book does end on a slight cliffhanger.
It isn't bad. You won't be throwing your reading device across the room because of it, but it does make you anxious to see what will happen next.
Overall, this was a fantastic read.
I'm so glad I picked it up and gave it a shot.
Would definitely recommend.
