Through Illusions and Deceit, (A Court of Gilt and Shadow)
Stacy Jones & Harper Wylde
It's a...Reverse Harem
Through Illusions and Deceit is the much-anticipated continuation of the A Court of Gilt and Shadow Series by bestselling authors Stacy Jones and Harper Wylde. Danger. Illusions. Deceit. Fairy tales and monsters exist... and Arawyn is one of them. After years of trying to control the strange power living inside her, Arawyn knows she's different. She just couldn't have guessed how different. She's the lost Fae Heir, the rightful Queen of Faery, and the first to ever hold the power of both the Light and Night Courts. But uncovering the secrets of her past leaves her with more questions than answers. How did she end up in the mortal realm? If she's so powerful, why can't she control the wild magic churning inside her? And why does that magic respond so intensely to the three enigmatic men who've vowed to protect her? A devilish Fae Prince, a psychotic assassin, and a monstrous warrior. Learning her identity changes everything between them. The suspicion in Rathe's eyes is turning into possession. Viper treats her like a leper, yet stares at her with a hunger that borders on madness. And Fear looks at her with a certainty that scares her more than any mercenary ever could. As the threats surrounding her grow more deadly, and the men she's come to care for are caught in the crosshairs alongside her, time is running out for Arawyn to learn to harness her power. But the last time she tapped into it ended in disaster. What if this time it isn't just Rathe, Viper, and Fear's blood on her hands... but their deaths? From bestselling authors, Stacy Jones and Harper Wylde, comes the second book in the darkly seductive new series, A Court of Gilt and Shadow, blending romance, danger, and the supernatural into an unforgettable read.

Where do I even begin with this book.
I was ready to devour it as soon as it released.
I couldn't get enough.

Book two picks up where we were left at book one.

Arawyn has learned she isn't quite human.
Though she hadn't expected the information she received.
She thought she was an alien, but she is something completely different.
A fae.
Though she was half right in assuming she came from a different world.
The guys have dropped their glamours around her and she finds them utterly fascinating and attractive.
Probably more so than she did with their human glamours.

We see so much more in this book.
More magic.
More spicy scenes.
More background information.
More danger.
And probably most of all, more relationship development.
There is just so much to digest in this book that it is hard to put into detail just what I loved about it.
You get a real sense of the characters and feel like you are living it right beside them.

While this book may seem somewhat fast-paced (that may just be me devouring the pages), it is a slow-burn when it comes to the relationships and the build-up of what is going on.
We still have so much to learn about the characters and the world.
There are some new characters brought in that have you questioning several things and wondering where it will lead.

Of course, the book ends on a cliffhanger. They know how to keep us in suspense!
It's more of a lead-in for book three (which hasn't even been given a preorder date yet!!)
I can't wait to see what is in store for us next.
I'll be waiting on pins and needles and will probably do a few re-reads between then.

Definitely recommend this series to those wanting to check it out!

Book three has not been revealed yet or preorder set up.
