Three Kinds of Wicked, (The True and The Crown)
May Dawson
Goodreads, Amazon
It's a...Reverse Harem
The university of magic is no place for the dark lord's daughter. Banished after her father was defeated, Tera’s years on Earth don’t prepare her for the hardships waiting for her in the magical realm. Her invitation back home is entangled with mysterious strings. Despite her bad reputation, three men are willing to give her a chance. Will they stick by her when the first sacrificed body shows up on campus, or will she have to fight alone for herself, her magic and her world? Welcome to a world where redemption is possible, where friendship and adventure and magic abound, and where love means never having to choose.

Tera was banished from her world at a young age. Kicked Earthside, she's had to learn to survive without magic. Now she's being given a second chance. Back in Avalon, she thinks she might finally have a chance at a normal life. Everyone remembers who she is though and nobody is happy she is back. Except for three strange men who she can't seem to get rid of. She's wary of their attention and has every right to be. They have secrets of their own. Things really get intense when a dead body shows up on campus. Can Tera really come back to Avalon and live or will everyone's hatred of her get her banished again? Can the daughter of an evil man really be good?

I really enjoyed the start to this new series. Poor Tera, like life wasn't hard enough after losing her father, she was banished as a child to an unforgiving Earth. She's had a hard life. I love how real May writes Tera's character. She struggles with the fact that her father had two sides. She loves him for his kindness and love growing up and hates him for the dark, hateful things he did. She's also skeptical of the guys. Being the only people on Avalon that don't seem to have a problem with her, it makes sense to not trust them. It makes their relationship feel more real.

The guys may have their secrets and ulterior motives but I feel deep down they are really good guys. They have also been through a lot in their lives. They each have their own little quirks and things they do to help Tera out. Cax is fun and full of adventure. Mycroft is your silent, broody protector and Airren is your stickler for the rules. Although he seems to be growing a soft spot for Tera.

This was a great intro to these characters and the world the story takes place in. Can't wait to see what comes next for these characters.
