It's a...Reverse Harem
Nothing is what it seems… Basra is the eternal city—A paradise filled with relics of the old world. We are welcomed into the upper sanctum of Basranian society where sly smiles and wicked eyes tempt us with riches and lavish comfort, yet something seems hopelessly wrong. The city is decaying. A rotten core with a deadly key that unlocks something even more sinister in one of the guy’s pasts. And paradise is filled with lies and deceit… As an ambassador for Tartarus, it’s my duty to bridge the gap between us and the other cities. But even more, as part of this team, it’s my right to know the truth. We need these alliances now more than ever. Duty or not, though, I will seek out the truth of Basra. I will find the rotten core and cut it out. And then I’ll unlock the door to his past and hopefully find the key to our salvation.

After learning what is happening to the sky cities, the team must travel to the other cities and seek their help. First stop, Basra. A city that is beyond beautiful. Ever heard that beauty is only skin deep? That goes for cities as well. While the streets and buildings may be pleasing to the eye, there is a darkness hidden underneath. Can Cass discover the truth behind the lies before it's too late?

The first book in this series gave us a lot to handle. Some people weren't really happy with certain aspects of the first book and I get that. We are done with that though. Kida is gone and we are moving on. So if that was a hang up for you in the first book, rest assured we are headed for your "normal" RH path. It is very slow moving though. While we do build some more on the relationships in this book, it's is SLOW. I'm totally ok with that though b/c we get so much more with this story. Levi is from Basra and we get to take a deeper look into his past. Cass also gets put in a position where we learn more about her inner thoughts and feelings as well. She's presented with an opportunity that she never thought she would have and it's raising feelings inside she's not sure how to handle.

There is so much complexity to this story and it's characters. We get to learn more about them a little at a time. The flow of this book. while on a slower pace, seems to be a perfect fit for the characters. It's also refreshing that it is different from other RH that are out. With so many coming out all the time now, the stories sometimes tend to favor each other. I've yet to read anything that compares to Sky Cities.
