Shadowed Heart, (A Death So Sweet)
Candace Wondrak
Goodreads, Amazon
It's a...Reverse Harem
Murder. Payback. Chaos. If you’re looking for a story about unicorns and rainbows, this ain’t it. Now, if you’re in the mood for something a little psychotic and a whole lot crazy, then you’re in the right place. I’m Lola Harding. My parents used to call me their angel, but they’re dead now. For the last few years, I’ve made a name for myself—the Night Slayer. I stalk the clubs and make sure anyone with greedy hands and stupid ideas is permanently taken off the streets. One night I happen to kill the son of a crime lord, and then everything changes. They’re going to kill me, I know, but until they do, I’m to be their pet, wear their leash and do whatever they say. The Lucianos are a family full of psychos and hatred… and I just might fit in better than I ever did anywhere else. And as a bonus? The other sons are the handsome and dangerous type, and even though they despise me for what I did to their brother, even though there might not be any light left for me at the end of this tunnel… I plan to enjoy the ride. Buckle up, b*tches, because it’s about to get wild. **Shadowed Heart is the first in a planned trilogy. It is an RH/Why Choose series, meaning there are multiple love interests, steamy scenes and some things you might find triggering: violence, mentions of abuse, etc.**

First off, can we just talk about this cover.
Oh. My. Gawd.
It is just so pretty.
I love the black light effect.
The crazy half mask skull.
And the piercing blue eyes on the female model.
Everything about it screams...YES, YES, YES!
And once you read the story, you see just how perfectly it ties into the entire plot.

This story is NOT for the faint of heart.
It deals with abuse, trauma, murder, and organized crime.
All of which gives me chills in the exciting way.

Lola is a character I have never seen the likes of before.
She speaks her mind.
Talks back.
Doesn't take no bull from anyone.
Even when facing death.
The entire story you hear about her past, but never the details, yet you know that it is bad because her present.
A past you don't learn about until the very end and it is one doozy of a confession.

There are three men Lola has her sights on.
Though I think two more MIGHT be added to her little harem.
She doesn't deny she is attracted to those two others, but three of them have already had her.
There are some steamy scenes.
And if you don't like a little bad, and even some blood, with your fun times...then steer clear of this book.
Actually, a definite trigger warning needs to be put on this book because of all the less than favorable things that take place.
I won't go into too much detail about the men, just know that they are a part of the organized crime family Lola finds herself a part of.

At first, I honestly wasn't sure how to feel about this book.
I couldn't get into Lola's character and how she was coming off.
Then it hit me right where I like it and I was sucked in.

If you are a fan of true crime and serial killer documentaries, then this is the book for you.
There is no other way to describe it. LOL.
You just have to dive in and figure it all out for yourself.
It does leave you with a WTF moment at the end.
I'm dying to know how things will end up in book two.
Especially because Lola doesn't expect herself to have a happily ever after and the boys aren't guaranteeing her one.
So...I wonder how that will play out.

Book Two, Crooked Heart, will release on March 1st.
