Neutral, (Curse of the Gods)
Jane Washington & Jaymin Eve
 Amazon

Sometimes, the end is only the beginning. Emmy was born a dweller and she expected to die as a dweller ... until Willa changed everything. Now she has no idea of her path, and she certainly wasn't prepared for what would happen after her death. Caught in the middle of a war that threatened to prove much more significant than anyone had ever expected, there is only one person who can help her ... but his terms are steep. Cyrus was born out of necessity: a being of light, brought to life with a singular purpose. Time has changed him and the recent events have unsettled him … but a certain transformed dweller is about to do much worse than that. She is about to turn his existence upside down. Topia is giving them no choice: they survive together, or the war is lost.

Facts to know about this book

Neutral is NOT RH! This is the story of Emmy and Cyrus.
You DO NOT have to read this book in order to complete the series, but seriously, why would you not?
This is a novella so yes it is short. That’s why it’s called a novella.
This book is your consolatory prize for the fact that Pain has been pushed back and WILL NOT be releasing this month. It’s new release date is 11/14.
Pain will be the last book in this series. There will be no more surprise novellas or books.

Oh and you should probably not read this review if you aren’t caught up with the series b/c there may be some spoilers for earlier books. It’s a bit unavoidable at this point in the series.

Review:
We ended the last book with the start of a war. Staviti descended upon Champion’s Peak with the intent to destroy and Willa stepped in to stop him. There were casualties of course but none as significant as our perfect dweller, Emmy. Willa wasn’t the only one who was distraught over her death though. While he was forced to supervise over the Sols and Gods of Champion’s Peak, Cyrus found himself enthralled with a tiny, insignificant dweller.

Willa has brought Emmy back from death but as what? Staviti is the only creator so how is she even alive? While Emmy tries to find out what she is, Cyrus tries to find out why he cares. While he should be using Emmy as a tool to gain followers in the war, he can’t fight the urge to protect her from everyone. Even herself.

I have been intrigued by Cyrus since we were introduced to him. Sometimes you want to hate him for the things he’s done but he’s always held a special place in my heart. He may have done some things we weren’t sure about but he’s always had good intentions. While I knew we would never see him with Willa in that way, I have secretly wanted him to find love. After poor Emmy lost Atti, my hopes started to surge again. Could two people be more perfect for each other?

While you do not HAVE to read this novella to keep up with the book, I think that you should. Not only do we get the story of Cyrus and Emmy but we learn a little more about what’s going on in Topia. We don’t get any answers so you won’t be missing that but there is some information that I think will be beneficial to the whole story.
