Poppy believes that there is nothing special about herself. That she is working her way through life, trying to make ends meet and enjoy what she can of it. After finding a beautiful necklace one day while shopping with her best friend, her life will be forever changed. When she meets three men, who may or not be huge dog like things with glowing red eyes, they reveal something that leaves Poppy totally floored. That she is the queen of the underworld and they are her hellhounds. They make up the three heads of Cerberus, and they are tasked with protecting her with their lives. When assassination attempts keep happening from very scary non human things, Poppy faces the fact that she needs them in order to survive. All she has to decide is if she wants to live a normal life, or accept that she is destined to be queen of the underworld and all that her duty entails.
Okay first off, I loved Poppy as a character. Yeah she had moments where she was in denial, but it does not take her long to get on board. Yeah being attacked by some scary creatures may have influenced her decision a little. Poppy is a great character that will have some growing to do. After all being queen is a big responsibility. One I think she will do just fine in. She is loyal and is not afraid to show affection or go after what she wants. Knox, Emmett, and Hunter. They are alpha males that will protect her with their very lives, but they want more than just to protect her body. They want her. A couple will pursue her and not hesitate, and one will hold himself back. As Poppy tries to prepare for her takeover of the underworld she has to dodge scary as hell beasts out for her death. Good thing she has three drop dead gorgeous guys to defend her body. The chemistry is definitely there between them all, their own personalities run from being a dick, to down right playful. Overall Daughter of Persephone is an excellent first look at this funny, sexy, fast paced world of gods that Ms. Scott has created.
