It's a...Reverse Harem
I used to be Everly Marrs, then D, W, J, K, and T kidnapped me to force my father’s hand. As hard as I tried not to lose myself to their games, I couldn’t have imagined how much worse things could get.
Six months trapped in hell. Six months forgetting who I used to be. Six months just trying to survive.
I got out—eventually—and there they were, all five of them. One moment I was in hell, and then suddenly, I returned to purgatory. They keep telling me what will happen to those who took what belonged to them. They keep telling me what will be done to their enemies.
I’m not sure I can believe them. I’m not sure a word they say is true.
The Letters, they’re still at war, and I’m still in the middle of it. I was an ant, and everyone around me stomped on me.
But, I used to be Everly Marrs, and— dammit— I will be again.
I know I've said this before about her other works, but this is my favorite series by Rebecca. When an author can make you fall more in love with every book they write, you know they have that something special. This series is dark, intense, scary. Yet it still gives you love, tenderness and even a little bit of hope.
Rebecca said in the beginning of book one that this was going to be "a dirty, hard path". That was the absolute truth. In book one, we were left wondering Did they or didn't they? Did she make us fall in love with men who in turn destroyed us? Well we get our answer in this book. I won't tell you what it is b/c that defeats the purpose. Read the book. I will tell you that after months of torture, physical and mental, Everly gets out. She does find herself back with The Letters. Like us, she doesn't know what to believe. Things are just getting amped up though. The Letters are at war and Everly is right in the middle.
I feel like even though we get to spend time with all the guys, Derrick steals the show. We have such intense moments with him and as rough and damaged as he is, he is so damn sweet.
So we go through a lot in this book. A lot of action, intense moments, heartache and surprise. BUT THE ENDING. Oh my word. I about lost it all. Rebecca did a fantastic job with drawing us in and holding us hostage right along with Everly. I can't wait for the ending of this series to know what's going to happen and yet, I'm going to be devastated to let these characters go. If you haven't met The Letters yet, what are you waiting for?
